Stream Report Upper Manistee, Boardman Rivers – 7/4/15

Happy Fourth of July!

Boardman River

Boardman River is fishing well and still trying to get on track with the hex. Lower water has had great fishing for hex as the big bugs have drawn large fish to the surface nights from 10:30pm-midnight. The upper water from the Forks to Keystone is just beginning to show some signs of night activity. Look for the hex (hexagenia limbata #4-6) spinners to arrive at dark while the emergences have been mixed around early evening and late night depending on the temperatures.

Upper Manistee River

The Upper Manistee River from Mancelona Road to Smithville is fishing well with lower, and clearer water conditions. Lots of isonychia bicolor, sulfur, and brown drake activity from 8pm-10:30pm and hex now nightly from 10:30pm-midnight.
