Stream Report Upper Manistee, Boardman Rivers – 4/26/16
Boardman River
The Boardman River upstream of Sabin Dam will open this Saturday, April 30 for the 2016 trout season. Water is cold but warming and dropping quickly. If temps continue to climb, we could see Hendricksons this weekend for the Opener. Otherwise, streamer fishing should be good. Tiny black stoneflies and midges continue on the lower river in town, and the last of the steelhead are in and suckers are filling river behind them.
Upper Manistee River
Streamer fishing has been good and some very large fish have been caught over the last couple of weeks. Hendricksons are coming off when water temps reach 53 degrees. Best areas have been above the Airport and upstream of 3 Mile Landing, but with some warmth, the river will pick up everywhere. Emergences should come around 1pm and spinnerfalls closer to 6pm, depending on the weather.
