  2. Manistee River, Boardman River Stream Report — October 1, 2013

    BOARDMAN RIVER IS NOW CLOSED UPSTREAM OF SABIN DAM UNTIL APRIL 26, 2014.

    LOWER RIVER BELOW SABIN DAM IS OPEN TO THE MOUTH.

    WEIR IS IN PLACE IN TRAVERSE CITY. 

    Fishing continues to be fair to good. Salmon are everywhere now and anglers are hooking up in big numbers. The streamer bite is picking up with the cold temps. Attractors continue to work in the late afternoons as water temps continue to rise afternoons. Warm temps this week will keep attractor fishing going. Tiny BWO’s are going now too. Look for them along the banks where they emerge. Some large fish will hang on the banks sipping them on gray days. Glossasoma caddis (#18 black caddis) are also coming off the Upper Boardman late afternoons. Some steelhead have come in with the chinooks and coho. More steelhead will arrive in a couple of weeks.

     

    DON'T FORGET... UPPER BOARDMAN ABOVE SABIN DAM WILL CLOSE TO FISHING OCTOBER 1.

  5. Kootenai River Trip 2013

    Here are a few of the photos from the Kootenai River Trip with Orvis Streamside. Streamside Orvis hosted four 6 night, 5 days of floats weeks from late August through September. Linehan Outfitting company (LOC) provided 5 terrific guides and anglers fished terrestrial, attractor, nymph and streamer patterns for brown trout, rainbows, bull trout and Westslope Cutthroats. Here are just a few photos.

  6. Manistee River, Boardman River Stream Report - September 9, 2013

     

    Salmon are the top story as they trickle into the Lower Boardman River in downtown Traverse City. The Upper Manistee continues to fish well with attractors and terrestrials. Salmon are now entering the Lower Boardman River and the Betsie Rivers.
