    As you are now aware, we will be moving our store one block east on Front Street. Our new space will enable us to hold more classes. Here is a list of FREE classes that will be available for January and February, 2020. They include FF101 Introductions to Fly Fishing, basic entomology, fly selection, leader and tippets, fly lines, and much more. We hope you'll take advantage of these classes.

    While these classes are free, space is limited. So, please call to let us know you'll be attending.

  2. Stream Report Upper Manistee, Boardman Rivers - 5/30/16

    Boardman River

    Fishing is very good with water warming and hatches going well daily. Black caddis (#16) are going daily from 4-6pm, and sulfurs (ephemerella invaria #16) are emerging from 7-9pm. Egg-layers (caddis) are hitting the water around 6:30pm. Sulfur spinners are on the water from 8-9pm.

    Fishing is excellent from Yellowtrees to 3 Mile Landing. Streamer fishing mornings from 7 -8am. Black caddis all afternoon with egg-layers coming to the water 6:30pm. Mahogonies (paraleptophebia #16) are moving lots of fish from 7-9pm and sulfurs (ephemerealla invaria 16) are everywhere evenings from 7-9pm. Sulfur spinners

  3. Manistee River, Boardman River Stream Report - September 16, 2013

    The streamer bite is picking up with the cold temps. Attractors continue to work in the late afternoons as water temps try to rise. Tiny BWO's starting now too. Look for them along the banks where they emerge. Some large fish will hang on the banks sipping them on gray days.

  4. Manistee River, Boardman River Stream Report - September 9, 2013

     

    Salmon are the top story as they trickle into the Lower Boardman River in downtown Traverse City. The Upper Manistee continues to fish well with attractors and terrestrials. Salmon are now entering the Lower Boardman River and the Betsie Rivers.

  5. Orvis Offers New Fiberglass Rods For 2014!

    Orvis is offering a new line of Superfine Glass Fly Rods for 2014. We've been casting them this week in Manchester, Vermont and they are terrific! With all the famous fishable characteristics of glass, they are perform beautifully and have tapers that make them easy to load, accurate, and truly "fishable". They feature an unsanded glass Orvis "retro" appearance that will remind you of the classic Orvis rod collection but with the technology that only Jim Logan at the Orvis Rod Shop can offer. We're looking forward to having them as soon as they are available in January. They'll retail for $395 and is sure to be an immediate hit.
